In 2007 and 2008, the artist drove it around Rotterdam and Antwerp, organizing performances by the noise band he assembled, Quasar Noise Lab. Today, QNT is no longer in use, but it is a stand-alone sculpture.
QNT is a key work in Philip Metten’s oeuvre. Here he explores how sculpture can also be functional. The mobile stage is an early example of the dialogue between sculpture and architecture which has since become typical of his work.
Belgian contemporary artist Philip Metten is known for sculptural installations that engage in dialogue with architecture. He explores how to combine the materials and concepts of sculpture with the practical and social functions of architecture.
